Information On the Scheme

  • Rural life of village people of the State is varied and women with folk-culture atmosphere but skirt areas of the villages had tremendous prosperity of trees.
  • Village children took innocent joy in swings in the shadows of trees and environment. However, with the lapse of time, this was extinct, the entire situation had adverse effects on rural life.
  • It is planned to see that the follow lands of the village may be affronted and restored with the cooperation of village people. People awareness may be created at village level and there may be tree planting and afforestation near the residential areas of the village.
  • The State Govt has implemented Panchavati Yojana in the entire State with a view to maintain faith in traditional cultural heritage.

Purpose of the scheme

  • It aims at welfare of rural people of the State, to develop parks and gardens in the village with necessary facilities and implements of joy and amusement are easily available
  • People may spend their time leisurely in the late evening and the women can spend their time peacefully with their children.
  • It aims to construct such places where senior citizens of the village may sit peacefully and may ponder over the matters,
  • According to the Panchavati yojana, pippal, Banyan, Harde, Ashok and various fruit-bearing trees and creepers are to be grown, so that faith towards traditional cultural heritage is maintained.

Pre-Conditions for its implementation and structure of the scheme

  • Panchavati yojana may materialize near village school, near village forest in the village or on leveled land of 1000 sq-meters or more from the lands earmarked for public purposes
  • Popular contribution shall be Rs.50,000.
  • Arrangement should be made for surrounding fencing. The entrance should be decorated.
  • Tourist place near big village or municipal areas of the villages having population exceeding 5000 shall be given priority.
  • The work shall be completed with active cooperation of forests and environment department.
  • Facility of ‘walking track’ shall be made to walk on.
  • There should be an arrangement for lighting. Arrangement for solar lighting is desirable.
  • The scheme shall be developed in view of eco-tourism scheme.
  • If there is village pond near by then boating and necessary facilities may be developed for it.
  • Gram Panchayats may raise sources for the maintenance of Panchavati yojana subject to the provision of Gujarat panchayats Act, 1993

In ancient times, the place was Panchavati where Shri Ramchandre lived in the forest. He has grown grove surrounding his cottage, so that air in the village will be purified. Nature seems by fragrant groves may cool our eyes. Greenary every where. It seemed as it the earth has green saree.

What should be done to materialize Panchavati Yojana ?

  • Trees mentioned earlier may be grown in waste-land near the village. Such trees may be planted surrounding village school. It is better to reserve 1000 sq.meter of lands from the lands earmarked for public purposes may be utilized for this scheme.
  • The govt. has issued guide-lines for this scheme. Accordingly, dung hills should be removed from the village, land should be levelled and trees like Banyan trees, Pippal trees, Aropalev, Harde, Gulmoher and other types of trees, various types of greepers may also be planted. Land may be examined and trees suitable to the land should be grown. Fruit bearing trees like mango trees, jambudi, chikoo, rayans may also be plant. The panchayat may do so with the co-operation of the Forest Departments.
  • It is necessary to have benches to sit.
  • A fountain may be kept, if there is facility of water.
  • It is necessary to have facilities of electricity to make such places more attractive.
  • Surrounding fencing should be made, its entrance should be decorativealy made, its entrance should be decorative. It is necessary to provide arrangement for public toilet at such places. It is necessary to have separate toilet for ladies.
  • It is necessary to have walk-track in the garden, where people come to walk. It is necessary to have facilities for physical exercises, yogas etc.
  • If there is a step-well or pond near the village site, it should be developed taking in view eco-tourism.

Panchvati Yojana and people participation

  • Gram Panchayat has to pay Rs.50,000 as people’s participation, against which the state government pays assistance of Rs. 1 lakh contribution from peoples participation is to be paid in the form of kind of implements. Priority is asigned to the Gram Panchayat which pays this amount.
  • Gram Panchayat may incur more expenditure, provided it has found to obtain by donations.
  • In this period, majority of big villages are being converted into cities. Consequently our basic concept of village culture has been totally forgotten. This is an unique and finely effort to pursue our culture.

Commitment of village people on Panchavati Yojana

  • We promise to maintain, preserve and rear trees in the public garden of Panchavati.
  • We promise to see the trees daily.
  • We promise to talk with the trees adopted in Panchavati with our family members.
  • We promise to provide nutritious manure and water to the trees, so that our minds are bloomed with joy.
  • We promise to remove the dirt of plastic article from the trees.

Panchavati Yojana is an innovative scheme for the joy and pleasure of village people in rural areas of the State which encourages parks and gardens and provides facilities therein .
